The new $31-million Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital, at Kanwal, opened its doors to the first patients.

The hospital, opposite Wyong Hospital, on the Pacific Highway, had been under construction for more than 18 months.
“We are so excited to be opening the doors of our state-of-the-art facility to the people of the northern end of the Central Coast,” Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital CEO, Laura Barnett, said.
“The construction project undertaken over the past 18 months has involved a multitude of local suppliers, community leaders, school children and doctors.
“It is truly a hospital built by local people, for local people.”
Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital is part of the Healthe Care Australia group, which runs Toronto Private Hospital.
It will complement the range of private surgical, medical, mental health and rehabilitation services currently on offer at the group’s other established hospitals on the Central Coast – Gosford Private Hospital and Brisbane Waters Private Hospital.
A spokesperson for Healthe Care Australia said Tuggerah Lakes Private would attract “high quality specialists and surgeons” from across the Central Coast, Sydney and Newcastle.
It features three operating theatres, day and inpatient beds, specialist consulting rooms, pathology and radiology services, and an on-site café.
“It will cater for multiple specialties, including orthopaedics; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; general surgery; colorectal; gynaecology; urology; plastic surgery; vascular surgery and dental,” the spokesperson said.

“The new hospital will also create up to 50 jobs and has already attracted a huge amount of interest from local residents, with over 300 applications received for the positions that have been advertised so far.”
